Assignment 5 Reflection

While I think Assignment 5 was the most challenging yet, it was also the assignment I learned the most from. There are so many functions on PowerPoint, which has always intimidated me and is one of the reasons why I have preferred Google Slides. However, this assignment let me explore PowerPoint and learn how to use more of its features. I had no idea PowerPoint could be used to make game-like presentations and can see how useful this would be for an instructor to learn. While I originally planned on just completing the “Pass” requirements because of my unfamiliarity with PowerPoint, I ended up completing the “High Pass” requirements because of how comfortable I ended up being in my ability to do so. Overall, I really enjoyed this assignment!

Data Collection Tools

Data collection is not just important for gauging the performance of classroom instruction, but it is important for a variety of career fields as well. I do not plan on becoming a teacher, but I definitely see myself using data collection in my future career field. As an academic advisor, I can use data collection to survey students on their advising experiences. I would be able to take the positive and negative feedback to better tailor my advising for future appointments.

New Technology Skills

I have been wanting to learn more about Excel and Google Sheets, so I am excited for our upcoming data collection assignment. Excel and Google Sheets are two programs that are very intimidating to me, but with practice, I can see myself becoming more comfortable with it. I am not a numbers girl, but learning more about these two programs will certainly help me in the future. I do not have much experience with either program, so I am looking forward to learning more!
