EME2040 Reflection

I have really enjoyed my experience in EME2040 so far. I have really liked the smaller class size and relaxed classroom atmosphere. I feel like these have been super helpful for a morning class, but it also sometimes makes me feel even more sleepy. I also walk about 20 minutes to get to class, which may also be contributing to that tiredness. The only other thing that I do not love is the computer lab set-up. I feel like a regular classroom would make for a more engaging and collaborative classroom setting. If I were to become a teacher, I would keep these things in mind as I set up the physical structure of my classroom in order to provide the best learning experience for my students.

Open Educational Resources

Open Educational Resources are online educational lesson plans and content that are free for everyone to use. OER materials are available to be retained, reused, revised, remixed, and redistributed. Edutopia’s article “Open Educational Resources (OER): Resource Roundup” is a great online resource for understanding and finding OER materials. This blog post lists many OER resource lists curated by others and also lists their own OER lesson plans, textbooks, and activities.

Assignment 4 Reflection

Assignment 4 was definitely very helpful and interesting. I do not have a ton of experience with PowerPoint, so it was nice to have an assignment to learn more about it. Doing the High Pass requirements also helped with learning more about PowerPoint. Creating a lesson plan to present via PowerPoint is also a great skill to practice for future educators and even non-educators. However, I do still think I prefer Google Slides. I love the simplicity of the program and prefer the themes, fonts, and features over PowerPoint.
